Plaza East
A total of 193 family public housing townhouses and flats were completed in December 2001 in the Western Addition. Celebrating the third HOPE VI site to open in San Francisco, Mayor Willie Brown (see photo) cuts the ribbon to the new units with returning Plaza East residents and Tony Salazar, Development partner (right). Defensible design features include front door off right of way, private back yards, secured trash access areas and fenced-in play yards.

Completed Product - Rebuilt a total of 455 bedrooms in family apartments to replace the original 508 bedrooms in predominantly studio and 1-bedroom units. The new housing includes 193, Victorian style townhouses and flats for families (19 1-bedroom, 105 2- bedroom, 50 3-bedroom and 19 4-bedroom).
SFHA will have the option to take over management and maintenance from McCormack Baron Management Services after three to five years.
