The new mixed-use development contains 341 mixed income family and senior apartment homes, along with retail and commercial space along Bay Street and the historic Cable Turnaround. It is located on two blocks divided by this San Francisco landmark and adjacent to Fisherman's Wharf. Trader Joe's is the primary retail tenant. The revitalized site opened on October 22, 2004.
Defensible design features include private front doors entrances, decks and gardens, and secured podium over parking, commercial and retail facilities.

- Product - The North Beach HOPE VI new construction includes 229 public housing units, 112 apartments affordable to families with incomes below 50% of the SF median, a parking garage for 323 cars, commercial space and retail space surrounding the Cable Car turnaround for a total of 341 new units.
- Partnership - SFHA will have the option to purchase the residential component at the end of the Tax Credit Compliance Period of 15 years, and may exercise an option to purchase the commercial component. In addition to the housing, the mixed-use development will include 34,000 square feet of net rentable ground floor retail clustered around the cable car stop and commercial space that will be complimentary to North Beach/ Fisherman's Wharf business and 3,000 square feet for resident business incubator space.
